At Kalyros Engineering LLP, we design and manufacture high-performance
filter elements engineered to ensure purity and efficiency of fluid and
air systems
across industries. Our elements remove contaminants from liquids and gases, protecting
machinery and
improving operational reliability. Built for precision and durability, our filters are
configurable to
suit diverse application needs.
Overview
Kalyros Engineering LLP proudly manufactures high-performance filter elements designed
to ensure the
purity and efficiency of fluid and air systems across various industries. These filter
elements are
critical components that remove contaminants from liquids or gases, protecting machinery
and enhancing
operational reliability. Crafted with precision and durability in mind, our filter
elements are tailored
to meet diverse application needs.
Manufacturing Process
-
Material Selection and Preparation – High-quality filter media
(e.g., cellulose,
synthetic fibers, or metal mesh) and end caps (e.g., steel or plastic) are chosen
based on filtration
needs. Media is precision-cut and prepared.
-
Pleating – Media is pleated using automated pleating machines to
increase surface
area and filtration efficiency, ensuring uniform folds and optimal contaminant
capture.
-
Assembly – Pleated media is formed into cylinders and secured
between metal or plastic
end caps. Adhesives or mechanical seals ensure a tight, bypass-free fit.
-
Core and Support Structure Installation – A perforated
metal/plastic core is inserted
to provide structural support; an outer support cage is added when required.
-
Sealing and Bonding – End caps are bonded by heat sealing,
adhesives, or ultrasonic
welding for leak-proof assembly. Gaskets or O-rings are added as needed.
-
Quality Control and Testing – Each element undergoes pressure
testing, flow-rate
analysis, and contaminant-retention tests (e.g., ISO 2941). Visual inspections
verify pleat and seal
integrity.
-
Packaging – Finished elements are cleaned, dried, and packaged in
protective materials
to avoid contamination during transport.
How It Works
Fluid or air passes through the pleated media, which traps contaminants while allowing
the clean fluid to
pass. Pleats increase surface area for better retention; the support core keeps shape
under pressure. Flow
is typically from the outer surface toward the inner core, capturing particulates and
protecting downstream
equipment.
Applications and Uses
- Automotive – Oil and fuel filters for engines to remove
contaminants and extend life.
- Refrigeration – Air/refrigerant filters in cooling equipment to
maintain efficiency.
- Air Conditioning – HVAC filters to remove dust and allergens for
clean circulation.
- Industrial Machinery – Hydraulic and lubrication system filters for
manufacturing plants.
- Oil & Gas – Gas and liquid filtration in refineries and pipelines
for process purity.
- Medical Equipment – Air filters in ventilators and sterilizers for
sterile environments.
- Food & Beverage – Liquid filtration in processing lines to maintain
product safety.
- Power Generation – Air intake filters for turbines and generators
to prevent debris damage.
Materials and Grades
Our filter elements are available in multiple media and grades:
- Cellulose – Cost-effective, general-purpose oil and air filtration.
- Synthetic Fibers (Polyester, Polypropylene) – High efficiency,
water- and chemical-resistant.
- Glass Fiber – Superior filtration for fine particulates and
high-performance needs.
- Stainless Steel Mesh – Durable, reusable, suited for
high-temperature or corrosive fluids.
- Composite Materials – Multi-media constructions for enhanced
longevity and performance.
Grades are expressed in micron ratings (e.g., 1–100 µm) and tailored to contaminant size
and flow requirements.
Types of Filter Elements
- Cartridge Filters – Cylindrical elements for high-flow
applications.
- Panel Filters – Flat or pleated panels for HVAC and air
purification.
- Bag Filters – High-capacity filters for industrial liquid
filtration.
- Spin-On Filters – Integrated housing and element for easy
replacement (automotive use).
- Pleated Filters – Compact designs with increased surface area for
high efficiency.
